Maxim Shalygin: Angel

The brand new work by Wim Henderickx is now embedded in a special concert program by LUDWIG and Vincent van Amsterdam with work by this Flemish composer who died far too early.

In addition, the atmospheric work Angel by the Dutch-Ukrainian composer Maxim Shalygin and new work by the young Flemish composer Benjamin Windelinckx will be played.

Van Amsterdam is a true pioneer on the accordion. He arranged and played Bach’s Goldberg Variations on his favorite instrument. Composers such as Daan Manneke, Aart Strootman, Christiaan Richter and Maxim Shalygin wrote special work for him. The Grammy-award winning orchestra LUDWIG has already worked with soprano Barbara Hannigan, among others. During this concert, they can be heard in a line-up with only strings.

In collaboration with the Conservatory of Amsterdam and docent Ralph van Raat, the Leiden Salon presents four concerts featuring Dutch (piano) music from the 20th century. Well-known and lesser-known composers will be featured. A nice touch is that three of these concerts will be given by (piano) students from abroad, a wonderful meeting of cultures.
