The magical stillness that opens Mahler’s First Symphony could be the dawn of the world itself. But it’s certainly the start of a truly epic musical adventure with HK Phil Music Director Jaap van Zweden. First, though, HK Phil Concertmaster Jing Wang steps into the spotlight for a world first: a new violin concerto by John Borstlap, a composer who believes that good tunes never go out of fashion.
