Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Martijn and Stefan Blaak)
Since its premiere in 1979, ‘Canto Ostinato’ by Simeon ter Holt has been a huge success. This most famous piece of Dutch classical music is a dream come true. Both sitting and lying down you can surrender to the soothing sounds of the ‘Canto Ostinato’, where rippling rhythms unfold into the most beautiful and moving melodies. The composer himself does not speak of a concert, but of a ritual, mainly because he leaves the performers free to determine how the work is performed and how long it lasts.
This concert is therefore accessible to everyone, where the listener will find inspiration and peace; sitting on a chair or lying on a self-brought mat and/or pillow around the wings.
The work is rarely if ever heard in Twente and therefore all the more beautiful that the wool-dyed performers of this work, piano duo Martijn and Stefan Blaak, come to play it in the Theaterhotel on two beautiful grand pianos.
