The Rodion Trio has made a name for itself as an ensemble that comes up with surprising programmes based on extra-musical or literary themes.
At first glance, the line-up of clarinet, saxophone and piano seems challenging because hardly any compositions have been written for it. But the Rodion Trio has turned that very fact around by making its own arrangements, opening up a new world of musical possibilities. Those arrangements make it possible to reinterpret (well-known) classical works and present them to audiences in a new form.
Rodion Raskolnikov is the main character from ‘Crime and Punishment’ by Fyodor Dostoevsky, who tries to bend the world and its rules to his will, exactly what the Rodion Trio also does.
The jury of the International Chamber Music Competition Almere 2013 also appreciated the Rodion Trio’s surprising programmes and awarded the trio the main prize.
Ticket sales are via the Rodion Trio’s website and at the door.
