WIPO presents CLIP, a platform to learn about the music industry

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has developed a fantastic platform about Music and Rights to help understand the music industry, the rights as a creator, and how creators get credited and paid when writing, performing, or recording a song.

Creators Learn Intellectual Property (CLIP) is a knowledge platform dedicated to creators’ rights and intellectual property. It aims to provide valuable information for creators from various disciplines so that they can make informed decisions and receive fair compensation for their work.

Initially focusing on the music industry, CLIP plans to expand to include content relevant to literature, audio-visual creation, visual arts, and more. The platform offers videos featuring insights from industry experts, informative pages explaining key aspects of intellectual property rights, and mini-quizzes to test creators’ knowledge.

CLIP was developed by WIPO for Creators, a consortium established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Music Rights Awareness Foundation (MRAF), a non-political foundation dedicated to increasing awareness of music rights worldwide.

The platform aims to provide creators with valuable knowledge and empower them by bringing together the expertise and insights of the creative industries. Intellectual property (IP) encompasses inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, and commercial symbols, names, and images. It includes patents, trademarks, and copyrights, which protect the ownership and exclusivity of these creations, allowing creators to benefit from their work and foster an environment conducive to creativity and innovation.
