
Simeon ten Holt: Canto Ostinato by Tomoko Mukaiyama
The Dutch-Japanese pianist, visual artist and director will perform Canto Ostinato (1979) by the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt in Festival Internacional Cervantino Guanajuato, Mexico. Based in Amsterdam, she has worked with prestigious orchestras and ensembles around the world such as the Modern Ensemble in Frankfurt, the London Sinfonietta and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, among others.
She uses her experience as a concert pianist to bring a new dimension to the concert space. As a multimodal artist, she develops performing arts projects and art installations that combine music with modern dance, fashion and visual arts. In 1991 she was the first Japanese pianist to win the prestigious Dutch Gaudeamus competition and in 1993 she won the Muramatsu prize in Japan.
