Joey Roukens: Bosch Requiem

As part of the November Music festival, the Netherlands Chamber Choir and Amsterdam Sinfonietta present a brand new Requiem by one of the Netherlands’ greatest composing talents, Joey Roukens. Roukens wrote an intimate and serene work, inspired by greats such as Mozart, Fauré and Britten. As well as texts from the traditional liturgy, he also makes use of modern secular poetry about death and farewell.

The Bosch Requiem was commissioned jointly by the Muziekgebouw and November Music, supported by Ammodo, which annually enriches musical life with a substantial new work. Previous commissions have gone to Anthony Fiumara, Kate Moore, Calliope Tsoupaki, Seung Won Oh and Hawar Tawfiq.
