Simeon Ten Holt: Canto Ostinato (Trio Ostinato)
Canto Ostinato, a piece with cult status in the Netherlands, was composed in 1979 for one to four keyboard instruments by the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt.
It is a ‘filling evening’ piece, without interruption, in a tonal, minimalist style. By using cells with musical motifs that can be repeated an indefinite number of times, the music is hypnotic and emotionally moving and takes the listener on a journey through musical landscapes.
