Louis Andriessen: De negen symfonieën van Beethoven
The silvery sound of the harp takes you to another world. The instrument is related to the ancient lyre, which accompanied the singer Orpheus on his search for his Eurydice. Mozart brilliantly merged the sound of the harp with the flute. Solo flautist Kathrin Jöris and solo harpist Jie Zhou, both members of the NPW, come together for one of his most beautiful concerts. The proximity to Mozart can also be felt in Schubert’s 5th symphony. The 19-year-old wrote enthusiastically: “Mozart, immortal Mozart, how many o infinitely many such beneficial imprints of a brighter, better life have you imprinted on our souls.”
