Joey Roukens: Percussion Concerto
On Thursday 3 August Muziekzomer Gelderland presents a ‘percussion day’ for young and old in Theater Orpheus. Do you like rhythm, grooves and beats and would you like to experience how you can make them yourself? Or would you like to come and listen to an impressive performance? Write Thursday 3 August in the agenda and bring your friends, parents or neighbors with you!
This percussion day is part of the Muziekzomer Gelderland, a festival in which young musicians between the ages of 18 and 26 play the leading role in the more than 80 concerts that the Muziekzomer has every year. Every year a young artist in residence is chosen, this year it is percussionist Kalina Vladovska. Kalina won first prize in the Princess Christina Competition in 2019. As part of this prize, she performed in 2019 and 2020 with the Netherlands Youth Orchestra conducted by Jurjen Hempel in the Rautavaara percussion concerto Incantations. In November 2022, Kalina performed Lyubomir Denev’s Triple Concerto with the Sofia Philharmonic conducted by Lyubomir Denev Jr.
As a young artist in residence, Kalina gets the opportunity to create a number of projects and the percussion day is one of them. In addition to a body percussion workshop by Frans Kemna, Kalina will perform with the National Youth Orchestra in the Percussion Concerto by Joey Roukens.
This special day is free of charge!
