Festival Forbidden Music Regained
For the fourth time the annual Festival Forbidden Music Regained will be hold at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.
Forbidden Music Regained is a collaboration between Leo Smit Foundation, Conservatory of Amsterdam, Donemus Publishing and Netherlands Music Institute.
Every year new editions of sheet music are presented during the festival. This year we present our 125th edition. All 125 scores will be available for studying. The first copy of the series of 25 new scores will be presented to conductor Ed Spanjaard.
The theme of war and persecuted composers is more topical than ever.
This year 24 young musicians play works by composers who were persecuted during WWII. Their names were forgotten. During this festival they are brought back to life. On the program works by, among others, Leo Smit, Julius Hijman, Henriëtte Bosmans, Paul Hermann, Lex van Delden, Hans Henkemans and Dick Kattenburg.
Before every piece we’ll show a short introduction film about each composer, made by Joost Honselaar, text spoken by Hans Haffmans.
Chamber music time slots:
concert 1: 14.00-15.00, coffee/thee, concert 2: 15.30-16.30, reception.
