Hantzen Houwert, widow of Dutch composer Erik Lotichius, has entrusted the complete works of her late husband to Donemus Publishing. Erik Lotichius, who passed away in 2015, was a well-known composer and educator. He composed over 200 works.
Lotichius’s work includes a variety of styles and genres, covering both “light” and “heavy” compositions. His repertoire consists of orchestral pieces like piano concertos, saxophone concertos, and a symphony, as well as chamber music such as viola and alto saxophone sonatas, wind quintets, and a saxophone quartet.
Erik Lotichius composed many vocal works as well, which included numerous songs for voice, piano, and saxophone. These songs were based on texts by poets such as Shakespeare, Brecht, and Prévert. Lotichius often performed these pieces himself with his trio Metamorfose at various concert venues across the Netherlands.
By placing Lotichius’s complete works with Donemus Publishing, Hantzen Houwert ensures that her husband’s musical legacy will be preserved and made accessible to future generations of musicians and music enthusiasts. This move will likely facilitate the continued performance and study of Lotichius’s compositions, which span over 200 works in the Donemus catalogue.
