Leo Smit: Divertimento

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Amersfoort Orchestra will provide the commemorative concert of the Municipality of Amersfoort. Every year the municipality of Amersfoort organizes in collaboration with Platform Amateurkunst | Schools in the Arts will hold a commemorative concert on May 4, in the presence of Mayor Lucas Bolsius. The memorial concert takes place immediately after the Silent Tour.

One of the works on the program: Divertimento by Leo Smit, orchestrated by Andries van Rossen.

Leo Smit

Leo Smit was born to a wealthy, non-orthodox Portuguese Jewish family, on May 14, 1900 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Together with his wife he was deported by the Germans in 1943, via Westerbork to Sobibór extermination camp. Uopn arrival, they were immediately annihilated.
