Maxim Shalygin: TO ALL ALIVE
Hanging a poster in your window, attending a demonstration or posting on social media: there are more and more ways to speak out about developments in the world. Resistance has a long history: throughout the centuries, people have always resisted the restriction of freedom. Think of the protest against the unequal treatment of black and white people and the acts of resistance by many Dutch people during the Second World War.
What do the past, present and future of resistance look like? Writer and historian Astrid Sy shows examples of resistance throughout the centuries. Writer and historian Jessica van Geel takes the audience back to the resistance during the Second World War. Climate activist Hannah Prins sheds light on the future of resistance and the role of young people in it. During the programme, theatre maker Elles Leferink takes on the role of Truus van Lier, a resistance fighter during the Second World War.
Part of this evening is also a musical performance by Ensemble Klang in collaboration with Gaudeamus. They will perform works by composers Louis Andriessen, Maxim Shalygin and Pauline Oliveros.
