Composers Workshop by Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is starting a new project aimed at young composers. For the first time, composers at the beginning of their career will have an extraordinary opportunity to hear their work performed by the world-class orchestra, and receive valuable feedback from the expert committee as well as the conductor Jurjen Hempel. Donemus has joined the initiative by offering a specialised workshop focused on questions of music typesetting, copyright and other crucial yet easily neglected segments of a composer’s profession. Most of the works in this year’s edition will also be published by Donemus:

On Thursday 12 June, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is organising a Composers’ Workshop for the first time in its history in the Main Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Participating composers are: Catharina Clement, Thomas van Dun, Primo Ish-Hurwitz and Annija Anna Zarina. Conducted by Jurjen Hempel, the orchestra will perform works by this promising composers.
A committee, consisting of various orchestra members plus composer Brett Dean, will provide feedback on the compositions. The workshop will be informal, with the focus not on performance but on experimentation. The main goal is to build a bridge between the creative mind of the artist and the performance practice of a symphony orchestra.
There is room for a limited number of interested parties. You can reserve a free podium spot via the link to experience this special experiment: https://tix.concertgebouworkest.nl/nl/buyingflow/tickets/43792/100741/
