On Sunday, 5 October 2025, the Dutch Doctors’ Orchestra will give a special benefit concert at the Muziekcentrum Enschede.
Under the baton of renowned conductor Ed Spanjaard, the orchestra will perform a rich and varied program, including works by Enescu, Poulenc, Wagner, and Van Gilse. The proceeds from the concert will go to the Friends of the Medical Spectrum Twente Foundation.
The concert promises several musical highlights. These include George Enescu’s sparkling First Romanian Rhapsody and Wagner’s majestic Lohengrin Overture. Actress Johanna ter Steege will narrate Poulenc’s charming L’Histoire de Babar, suitable for young and old alike. A special moment will be the world premiere of the suite from Jan van Gilse’s opera Thijl, which was composed during the Second World War and is only now being performed in this form.
The Dutch Doctors’ Orchestra consists of musicians who, in addition to their work as doctors, specialists, or medical students, perform music at a high level. Since its inception, the orchestra has been committed to charitable causes in healthcare. This third benefit project promises to be another evening in which craftsmanship, passion for music, and social engagement come together. Tickets are available through the Wilminktheater in Enschede.
