Selected composer

Dyane Donck

Dyane Donck is a composer and sound artist. She was studying graphic and monumental arts at the Academy of Visual Arts Breda – and playing bass guitar in several bands – when she discovered music through the creation of graphical scores. Subsequently she studied Music Technology (Composition and Electronic Music) at the Utrecht School of the Arts in Hilversum, where she got a Second Phase and Master degree. The Centre of Electronic Music, for which she worked almost 10 years and where she co-founded the Childrens Composing Workshop, sparked her interest in soundscapes. Together with video artist Jake de Vos she started the duo Jake&Dyane, that creates interactive video/sound installations – varying from machines that create every climate in the world in sound and light to snack vending machines with whispered erotic fantasies. Their installations were exhibited in galleries and festivals throughout Europe. Donck often initiates her own projects and likes working with other
disciplines. She made various tape compositions for Dutch radio. Lately she has started composing for instruments, but almost always in combination with electronics and/or soundtrack. Donck teaches at the St. Joost Art Academy in Breda and Den Bosch and at the Hilversum Art, Media and Technology faculty of the Utrecht School of Arts.
