As a cellist Henri C. van Praag has been active in various orchestras: symphony, opera and operetta. He plays the saxophone in jazz and show orchestras. He teaches solfège at the Belinfante Music School and violoncello at the Volksmuziekschool, both situated in Amsterdam. Additionally, he writes music reviews for the Amsterdam daily newspaper ‘Het Parool’. His numerous compositions, largely of cheerful nature, include works for orchestra, concertos, chamber music, choral works and children’s songs. He writes the school operas ‘Adelgund en Veenerick’ and ‘Schoolklap’. He also writes light music under the pseudonym Han Risée.
