Huib Emmer (1951) is a composer, performer of electronic music and guitarist who has demonstrated over the years that there are many facets to his music.
He graduated from the Royal Conservatory in the mid-1970s, having been taught composition by Jan van Vlijmen. His work has been performed by many ensembles: LOOS, Nieuw Ensemble, Xenakis Ensemble and Maarten Altena Ensemble, to mention but a few. Orchestras have performed his works, including Concertgebouw Orchestra, Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Radio Symphony Orchestra Sophia, and Brabants Orkest. Pianoduo Bouwhuis/Van Zeeland performed compositions specially written for them and many soloists have also performed his works: saxophonist Peter van Bergen, pianist Gerard Bouwhuis, singers Charles van Tassel and Jannie Pranger and flutist Anne La Berge, among others. His work has been performed in the Netherlands as well as in countless other countries such as Poland, South Africa, Bulgaria, South America, Germany, America and the UK.
