Jan Wisse received commissions from BRT (Belgium), Radio Hilversum, WDR Köln and RSI Lugano. His compositions are performed by Dutch radio choirs and orchestras conducted by Paul Hupperts, Karel Mengelberg, Hein Jordans, Roelof Krol, Ed Spanjaard, and the Gaudeamus Quartet, Sweelinck orchestra and Forum; abroad by a.o. Melos Quartet, piano duo Kontarsky, flutist Gazelloni, Hans Rosbaud and Dean Dixon. ‘s favourite composers are: Monteverdi, Bach, Haydn, Brahms, Ravel and Strawinsky. One of his most important compositions is ‘Sette aforismi’ for orchestra (1956).
