Donemus’ Historic Key Notes Magazine to become available online

The rich history of Dutch contemporary music publishing is about to become more accessible than ever. Donemus is preparing to bring its historic Key Notes magazines online through the Donemus History Hub, opening a valuable archive to composers, performers, researchers, and music enthusiasts worldwide.

Published since 1975, Key Notes succeeded the earlier Donemus publication Sonorum Speculum and served for decades as an important source of information on Dutch contemporary music, featuring composer profiles, news, interviews, publication announcements, performance activities, and developments within the Dutch music sector.

The forthcoming digital collection will allow users to explore these magazines from anywhere, offering unique insights into the evolution of Dutch musical life and the activities of Donemus over the years. By making the archive searchable and accessible online, the project preserves an important part of the Netherlands’ musical heritage while creating new opportunities for research and discovery.

The digitized magazines will be made available through the Donemus History Hub, a platform dedicated to documenting and sharing the history of Donemus and the broader ecosystem of Dutch contemporary music. The initiative forms part of Donemus’ ongoing commitment to preserving, digitizing, and making accessible its extensive musical heritage collections.

Further details about the launch and availability of the Key Notes archive will be announced soon.
