The Dutch Music Publishers Association (NMUV) has signed a cooperation agreement with MUSO, a specialist in anti-piracy technology. This collaboration aims to enhance the protection of music publishers against illegal online content. Donemus Publishing is one of the few publishers participating in this initiative to safeguard its digital scores.
The new agreement allows NMUV members to utilize the ICMP Anti-Piracy Platform (APP), which was developed in partnership with MUSO. This platform offers an automated solution for detecting copyright infringement, sending takedown requests, and reporting removed content through a user-friendly dashboard. The goal is to decrease the spread of pirated music online and protect the rights of composers and publishers.
The ICMP APP uses various technologies, including AI automation, to tackle copyright infringements. MUSO’s system can automatically send takedown notifications and provides extensive reporting capabilities to NMUV members. One important feature is the ‘Google delisting‘ automatisation.
Jitze de Raaff, chairman of the NMUV:
‘This cooperation will contribute well to the protection of music rights of our member companies. The platform is a valuable and modern tool against digital abuse. With this agreement, NMUV takes an important step towards a more secure and equitable music sector, in which the rights of composers are central.’
Davo van Peursen, director of the NMUV and of Donemus Publishing:
‘The demand for digital sheet music is high. Our members’ market is very international. Sheet music goes all over the world. But for business, it is crucial that our content is well protected. PDFs can be copied quickly. By working with MUSO, our members can enter the digital future with much more peace of mind.’
