Donemus pays out a record amount on royalties

Last months, Donemus paid out royalties to composers for all sales, rentals and licenses in 2022. And even though the first two months of 2022 still suffered from the COVID crisis, the amount of royalties were the highest since the new start in 2013.

Davo van Peursen: We are very happy that the works of our composers are finding their way to musicians. We monitored hundreds of performances since March 2022, leading to higher sales and rentals, as well as more licenses for dance and opera projects. In addition, scores are made available to many digital libraries worldwide. Composers benefit from those licenses as well.

Income from our labels

Although the label activities of Donemus Records are not the core business of Donemus, the amount of payments is increasing too. Niche music is reaching audiences worldwide. Some composers and musicians/ensembles are receiving hundreds of euros in royalties. The total report of all streams contains 275.000 lines of metadata. The income per stream is not more than a fraction of a cent, but the accumulated amounts nevertheless prove that the music is gaining a lot of attention. Donemus is grateful to the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds for their support in setting up our label activities.

MyDonemus

Within MyDonemus, composers have a direct overview of all their royalties, categorised by sales, rentals, licenses etc, starting from 2013 all the way up to the most recent income. The result is a transparent, detailed and fast-track overview for composers. The new year got off to a promising start!
