Alexey Kurbatov: Sonata for Saxophone and Piano

VitaDuo (Vitaly Vatulya, saxophone and Maria Nemtsova, piano) presents a new album “Rondo of our times”, which consists mostly of new music valuable for the classical saxophone and piano repertoire.
Program:
Polina Nazaykinskaya Rondo of our times (2019)
Pavel Karmanov Second Snow on the Stadium (2012) (arranged for saxophone and piano by Vitaly Vatulya)
Pavel Karmanov Love letter (2019)
Alexei Kurbatov Sonata for Saxophone and Piano (2019)
Sergei Rachmaninoff  Saxophone solo from “Symphonic Dances” (arranged by A.Kurbatov in 2020)
Edison Denisov Sonata for Saxophone and Piano (1970)
Polina Nazaykinskaya’s “Rondo of Our Times” was written during the pandemic for VitaDuo and is one of the best examples of the new sound-image music.
Alexei Kurbatov has written a broad, wavy sonata for saxophone and piano that Donemus has just released.
Pavel Karmanov wrote “Love Letter” as a birthday present for Vitaly Vatulya, who made a saxophone arrangement of “Second Snow at the Stadium,” originally written for viola and piano.
Sergei Rachmaninoff was one of the first composers to include the saxophone in the orchestra, and there is a particularly beautiful solo for this instrument. Alexei Kurbatov made a separate piece out of it.
Edison Denisov, one of the few avant-garde composers in the Soviet Union who was banned for many years, wrote an iconic Sonata for Saxophone and Piano in 1970. It is an extremely difficult, modern, challenging music, but VitaDuo has great experience in performing it and is known as one of the best interpreters of it in the world.
