Benet Casablancas: Memorial Arraona / Haiku para Cañizares / Estampes de Kwaidan
On May 26, 2026, the prestigious XX SGAE Tomás Luis de Victoria Prize for Ibero-American Music will be officially presented to the acclaimed Spanish composer Benet Casablancas. Hosted at the Palacio de Longoria in Madrid, the ceremony celebrates Casablancas as one of the most significant voices in contemporary music today.
The international jury awarded Casablancas this “highest honor for living Ibero-American composers” in recognition of the unquestionable quality of his repertoire and his unique ability to engage the emotions of the listener through a sophisticated aesthetic.
The evening will feature a tribute concert and a laudatio delivered by musicologist Dr. Germán Gan. The musical program, performed by pianist Juan Carlos Garvayo and the Moonwinds Trio, showcases the depth of Casablancas’s recent work:
