Calliope Tsoupaki: Wind of Love (National Cello Competition)

As in previous editions of the National Cello Competition, Round 1 participants will be performing one of Boccherini’s thirty-two sonatas for cello and basso continuo. Perfect pieces to allow them to let their virtuosity shine and their natural musicality resonate.

Next up will be a short, commissioned piece written by the Netherlands’ former composer laureate (2018–2021), Calliope Tsoupaki.

And last but by no means least, a scherzo by Brahms – originally written for violin and piano – whose tempestuousness is undeniably suited to the cello.
