Canto Ostinato on four pianos
In recent years, a performance of Canto ostinato has become a small tradition in our programming. The soothing music I like a mountain stream in a burgeoning spring, every year new people discover the power of this timeless work.
Festival day around Simeon ten Holt’s hundredth birthday
Simeon ten Holt would have turned 100 on 24 January. He is the composer of Lemniscaat, Solo Dances and of course Canto Ostinato, the work with which he conquered the hearts of countless people and which has been at the top of the NPO Radio 4 Hart en Ziel list for years. The tribute is given added lustre by the performance of four seasoned Canto specialists. They know exactly what Simeon ten Holt meant when he said: ‘Canto Ostinato is the nostalgia of foreignness. Nostalgia for a utopia perhaps. To the land of the loved ones. To the world where people are not predators to each other.’ This concert is part of the festival day Simeon ten Holt 100 years.
