Canto Ostinato (Sandra & Jeroen van Veen)
In 2023, the Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt would have turned 100. As a tribute, Sandra and Jeroen van Veen will perform his most famous work, which they have also put on CD several times: ‘Canto Ostinato’. The composer himself preferred their performance to other existing piano versions. More than 100,000 copies of the recordings made by the internationally renowned piano duo of the masterpiece have been sold.
Sandra and Jeroen van Veen were very close with Ten Holt, about whom Wilma de Rek wrote a biography in 2012. In ‘Canto Ostinato, in memoriam Simeon ten Holt’, De Rek interviews the duo at the wings, while they illustrate their answers with fragments from Ten Holt’s ‘Canto Ostinato’ and ‘Aphorism II’. After the break, Sandra and Jeroen will take you to the meditative sounds of ‘Canto Ostinato’.
