Netherlands-based saxophone ensemble Trio Abril brings its unique take on the traditional piano trio to Baton Rouge with a chamber concert perfect for the intimate setting of USA chamber music venues. Trio Abril is led by Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp, who is celebrated for his virtuosic lyricism, his commitment to both historic and contemporary repertoire, and his influential role as a teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Joining him are Frank van de Laar (piano) and Juani Palop (saxophones), presenting an exciting program one won’t want to miss.

Maxim Shalygin: Dolcissima

Cellist Nuala McKenna and pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi met at Splendor last year and promptly decided to create a special evening dedicated to works for cello and piano. Their program brings together three late works by Claude Debussy, Robert Schumann, and Frédéric Chopin, alongside a contemporary composition by Ukrainian-born composer Maxim Shalygin.
