Carlos Micháns & Marius Flothuis

The profit of Dutch Classical Talent meant a kickstart to their careers for many well-known musicians. Lavinia Meijer, Tania Kross and the Van Baerle Trio, among others, won the prize. Which classical talent will soon follow in their footsteps?

Perhaps it is Joost Willemze, great harp talent. Willemze has already won several prizes, including at the Princess Christina Competition, the international harp competition in Porto and at the Italian Suoni d’Arpa. His current program focuses on the tragic love affair between Orpheus and Eurydice. For the harpist, the performance combines the best of two worlds: Willemze also studied classical languages.

Program:
Gluck – Che farò senza Euridice; Dans van de gezegende geesten (Orfeo)
Benjamin Attahir – De l’obscurité II
Toru Takemitsu – Stanza II
Luigi Rossi – Orfeo: Passacaglia per arpa
Johannes Brahms – Intermezzo op. 118/2

Benet Casablancas: Three Epigrams for orchestra

This work belongs to a chapter in the composer’s oeuvre characterized by formal concision, concentrated discourse, and expressive contrast—all qualities inherent to the epigrammatic poetic genre—without neglecting other associated aspects such as direct effectiveness in the exposition of the argument, wit, and even certain moral connotations.
