Christian Blaha / Bernard van Beurden

On 28 and 29 June, the vocal ensemble Puisque tout Passe will give a special concert. It is the farewell concert of conductor René Nieuwint, who for 15 years allowed the choir to explore its musical boundaries with an unusual repertoire.

The choir will sing Bibliotheca Zelandica by Christian Blaha about reading and preserving. They will also draw on a collection by J. Bernlef set to music by Bernard van Beurden. Dutch female composers should not be missed. Three a capella gems by Johanna Bordewijk-Roepman will be performed. And Aubade by Theo Loevendie, a piece in which the choir, in all modesty, literally beats its chest. Browsing through the collection shows that a commissioned piece is not yet among them. Jasper Swank composed the piece Datsenraaps especially for this concert: the choir will perform the world premiere!

In addition, there are cards in the card index with a gilded edge. These are compositions that the choir has performed before. The Otče-Náš by Leoš Janáček and Hymne au Soleil and Pour les funérailles d’un soldat by Lili Boulanger. In this way, the language of the program changes from Dutch to French.

A number of excellent musicians will participate in this program. Among them Maurice van Schoonhoven and Piet Hulsbos. Both on piano. The concert will also be accompanied musically by harp, harmonium and double bass.

The Haarlem vocal ensemble Puisque tout Passe and conductor René Nieuwint have brought a library of special choir compositions to life over the past fifteen years. Now it is time for a change. The collection is complete. All in all, a valuable card index that the conductor can look back on with pride!
