Daan Manneke: Basler Psalms

On Saturday 4 June, the organists Gerben Budding and Arjen Leistra, together with soprano Nanette Mans and a vocal ensemble, will realize a unique performance of the Basler Psalms by composer Daan Manneke at 4.30 pm. The concert will take place in the regular Saturday afternoon series at 4.30 pm. In addition to the Basler Psalms, there are a number of smaller works by Manneke.

aan Manneke composed the Basler Psalms in 2019, commissioned by organist Andreas Liebig and Verein Orgelkonzerte im Basler Münster. The occasion was the 900th anniversary of the Münster. None other than Erasmus is buried in this church. This fact forms a wonderful link with the city of Gouda.

The Dutch premiere took place last year in the Amsterdam Westerkerk. Soprano Nanette Mans gave the premiere of part IV, Konzert für Sopran.
Composer Daan Manneke rearranged the Basler Psalms for the Gouda situation.

A Singer’s Farewell Semi-staged performance with beautiful music from the Romantic period. There was a time when increasing age meant wisdom and respect. That is no longer self-evident. Singing at the highest level has a limited duration. At some point, singers say goodbye to the family from which they seemed inseparable.
