De Graaff: Enivrez-Vous/Bons: Six Scenes

A Dutch chamber ensemble that has become an integral part of the musical landscape, the Calefax Reed Quintet is much beloved. The combination of oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and bassoon is priceless. Calefax will once again stretch its limits at November Music 2022 with two new works, composed by Joël Bons and Jan-Peter de Graaff.

Jan-Peter de Graaff (*1992), born in Papendrecht and raised on the isle of Terschelling, started composing at the age of 15.

Joël Bons

Joël Bons was born in Amsterdam and studied guitar at the Sweelinck Conservatory and composition with Robert Heppener. He attended the summer courses of Franco Donatoni in Siena and the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik.  In 1982 he continued his composition studies with Brian Ferneyhough in Freiburg.
