Donemus composers by Ruysdael Kwartet
This year marks the Ruysdael Quartet‘s 25th anniversary! This landmark will be celebrated with little treats for the group’s fans and listeners. The prize-winning string quartet – which is specialised in classical as well as contemporary music – has received support from the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds to help realise the anniversary plan of commissioning 25 Dutch composers to write a short work for string quartet. These are miniatures, a kind of little treat, which could be played for the next 25 (!) years as an encore, an overture or an amuse-bouche in Ruysdael’s future concert programmes. The compositions are pouring in, and preparations are being made to present the first 13 on September 13!
Tonight’s compositions are written by: Joey Roukens, Guus Janssen, Hanna Kulenty, Karmit Fadael, Max Knigge, Jan-Peter de Graaff, Florian Magnus Maier, Aftab Darvishi, Reza Namavar, Joël Bons, Jacob ter Veldhuis, Rob Goorhuis and Splendor’s own Maarten Ornstein.
To round out the program, the quartet will play one of their all-time favorites: the Ravel String Quartet.
