Douwe Eisenga: For Mattia

Following a magnificent performance in the Piano Nights series in 2022, composer and pianist Douwe Eisenga is returning to The Concertgebouw! And for a very special occasion: tonight he’s live, presenting his new album For Mattia – The Complete Recordings

Douwe Eisenga

Pianist and composer Douwe Eisenga writes sparkling music for sparkling minds, a hypnotic mix of irresistible rhythms, warm and veiled melodies and compelling lyricism. With his piece For Mattia he is now an established name in the Classical Top 400 of Radio 4. Douwe Eisenga makes honest, down-to-earth music. Often subdued and sober with a great, silent power: the subcutaneous melodies carve themselves into the soul of the listener.

For Mattia – The Complete Recordings

In the spring of 2019, Douwe released the – now sold out – album For Mattia. An album that was received lyrically. ‘A masterpiece’, according to VPRO 3voor12. Douwe recorded sixteen pieces for this album, nine of which ended up on the album. Now, five years later, the other seven compositions are being released for the first time, supplemented with alternative versions, a remix by Pim van de Werken and the single that started it all. Douwe Eisenga presents this album, For Matthia – The Complete Recordings, tonight in the Koorzaal!

A Singer’s Farewell Semi-staged performance with beautiful music from the Romantic period. There was a time when increasing age meant wisdom and respect. That is no longer self-evident. Singing at the highest level has a limited duration. At some point, singers say goodbye to the family from which they seemed inseparable.
