Joey Roukens’ “In Transit” is an energetic piece combining an unusual formation, string quartet and percussion. This musical work invites the listener to embark on a journey with an unknown destination. 

True to Roukens’ eclectic influences, it explores electronic music, rock, pop and more within a classical setting.

In combination with the main concert “85 jaar Andriessen”, we wanted to honor Louis Andriessen’s legacy by performing an adventurous piece by one of our generation’s most famous and influential Dutch composers. Through his own path, Joey Roukens has proved himself to be a pioneer with the potential of finding new approaches in contemporary music.
