Escher: Sonate & Torstensson: In Grosser Sehnsucht
The Osiris Trio, with its versatile and extensive repertoire, from the early classics via the romanticism to the very latest notes, ends its wonderful career on this evening with a work that was written especially for Osiris and soprano Charlotte Riedijk by Klas Torstensson. In Grosser Sehnsucht is a cycle of five songs to texts from letters, diaries, speeches and poems by five important women of the past, from the worlds of art and politics. It is little consolation for all loyal admirers of the Osiris Trio that this composition has also been recorded on compact disc. Peter Brunt and Ellen Corver first play Escher’s violin sonata, which was almost lost because the composer was not happy with it and wanted to destroy it. Fortunately, in his last phase of life, Escher revised this judgment.
