H. Andriessen / Röntgen / Smit / Van Gilse

For their program featuring Dutch music, the performers will take the audience back to Oegstgeest, where Jan van Gilse, who passed away in 1944, created his music. The performers played his Second Symphony over five years ago, and now they will present his fresh First Symphony. The program also includes the dynamic Concertino for harp and orchestra, composed by Leo Smit in 1933 for the renowned Rosa Spier. The soloist for this piece is a young and talented harpist, Claire Schuurmans, who won the first prize at the 2020 harp competition named after Rosa Spier. Additionally, the Old Dutch Dances by Julius Röntgen, with a contribution from Dance Studio Natya, and the Ricercare by Hendrik Andriessen, will be heard. The conductor for this concert is Joost Geevers.
