Hans Lachman: De Leidse Salon
The Leiden Salon is programming four concerts focusing on music by composers in the Netherlands who were persecuted during World War II. The programmes are inspired by the ties the presented composers had with the Netherlands, the US, Hungary and Germany.
To compile the programme, the Leiden Salon collaborated with flutist Eleonore Pameijer, who founded the Leo Smit Foundation with pianist Frans van Ruth in 1996. The foundation is named after the Jewish composer Leo Smit, who was murdered in Sobibor in 1943.
