Hendrik Andriessen: Miroir de peine

In collaboration with the Lebuinus Concerten Foundation, the Deventer Chamber Orchestra will play Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for organ, strings and timpani together with cantor-organist Kirstin Gramlich from the Lebuinus Church on Sunday, October 6 at 3:30 PM. Mezzo-soprano Rosina Fabius sings the beautiful song cycle ‘Miroir de Peine’ by Hendrik Andriessen. In the style of French composers including A. Roussel, Hendrik Andriessen composed his ‘Miroir de Peine’, a 5-part cycle with a text by Henri Ghéou. Five poems form a meditation on the suffering of Jesus Christ from the perspective of his mother Mary. Mezzo-soprano Rosina Fabius performs the vocals. To stay in the French atmosphere, there will be played the Sinfonietta by A.Roussel. He wrote this masterpiece under the influence of d”Indy, Franck, Debussy and Stravinsky. The first performance was an immediate success. The unique request for a female double bassist was remarkable for the time, but was nevertheless granted.
