Hendrik Andriessen / Peter Hellendaal

Come and enjoy a special musical experience with the Dutch Youth String Orchestra, led by the experienced conductor Carel den Hartog. Together with the talented students of Scholen in de Kunst they will perform a magnificent program. The performance will take place in the atmospheric Sint Franciscus Xaveriuskerk, a beautiful setting for an unforgettable afternoon full of classical sounds.

The program includes works by Purcell, film music by James Horner and two Dutch composers. Before his breakthrough as an organist and composer in London, Pieter Hellendaal was a violinist in an inn between Amsterdam and Haarlem for a long time. In his Concerti Grossi you hear a violinist at work who knows how to move and entertain his audience. Hendrik Andriessen was a gifted composer. In his Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Johann Kuhnau he knows how to use all the colors of the string orchestra.
