Hendrik Andriessen: Sonnet
This summer the Student Choir Amsterdam will go on tour to the Basque Country, a region in Spain with a special folk and music culture. As a choir we therefore started looking for how the identity of a people translates into music. We see how music tells folk stories, creates encounters and invites its listeners to dance. This summer, with our extensive a cappella repertoire, we will take you through Estonian, North and South American, Dutch and of course Basque music culture. We sing works by Sweelinck, Ravel, Josu Elberdin, Veljo Tormis, Daniel Afonso and many more. We will also perform two new compositions by Noëmi Schermann and David van der Linde that, among other things, highlight the identity of the SKA. The concerts promise to be a true journey for the audience, will you join us?
