Henriëtte Bosmans: Concertino for piano and orchestra
The Arnhem-Nijmegen Piano Biennale offers no fewer than two impressive piano concertos in one evening with Phion. The final piece is the grand, symphonically designed Second Piano Concerto by Brahms with Nathalia Milstein behind the grand piano. At least as impressive is the lesser known but very exciting and swinging Concertino by Henriette Bosmans. Hannes Minnaar pulls out all the stops to draw attention to this Dutch jewel.
The Piano Biennale and Phion are joining forces again to perform two piano concertos, introduced by a text by Willem de Wolf. A portrait of the Netherlands’ most famous composer, Henriëtte Bosmans, and her turbulent life in the 1940s, her battles with history, with love and life. Hannes Minnaar solos in Bosman’s Concertino for piano and orchestra, and Nathalia Milstein in Brahms’ Piano Concerto.
