Henriette Bosmans & Rosy Wertheim & Fania Chapiro
Concert ‘Forgotten Women Composers of the 20th Century’
The creative destinies of the heroines of this concert, like their contemporaries, were overshadowed by the Second World War, the 85th anniversary of which is celebrated on September 1. Ilse Weber died in Auschwitz, Julia Weisberg became one of the million victims of the Siege of Leningrad, Elsa Barren was an active participant in the French Resistance. Henriette Bosmans, Rosie Wertheim, Fanya Shapiro were forced to hide throughout the war like their compatriot Anne Frank, but even in these conditions they wrote music and gave concerts.
