Henriette Bosmans: String Quartet
Had she been able to experience it, the Dutch cellist and conductor Frieda Belinfante would undoubtedly have watched this performance by the quartet that bears her name with a mixture of pride and emotion. The Belinfante Quartet is on the rise and at the same time is taking along the repertoire of the kind of musicians who in Belinfante’s time still stumbled upon reinforced concrete ceilings: women. Today these are Caroline Shaw’s kaleidoscopic Entr’acte, the only string quartet by Belinfante’s lover, Henriëtte Bosmans, and a new work by Mathilde Wantenaar. The concert is a part of the Wonderfeel Festival.
