Idin Samimi Mofakham: Nafir

Nafir, concerto for double bass quartet, symphonic orchestra, and fixed media by Idin Samimi Mofakham will be performed at the Closing Concert of the 68th Warszawska Jesień / Warsaw Autumn on September 27th at the National Philharmonic, Warsaw. Composed between 2022–2024, Nafir reimagines the Persian word for cries of anguish and collective mourning as a sonic outcry against injustice, oppression, and war. Blending orchestra, contrabass quartet, and field recordings from the Iranian protests and the Woman, Life, Freedom movement, the piece carries voices of resistance and remembrance into the concert hall.
