Illud Tempus

“Illud Tempus” is a cycle of short movements for violin and viola inspired by the philosophy of Mircea Eliade. The title of the work represents the myth of eternal return, which translates from Latin as “time now and always”. Each part of the composition becomes its own ritual, symbolising the endless repetition of archetypal events. The most important factors that change the work are musical time, micro-tunings and the evolution of sonorities.
