Violinist Julija Hartig plays works from her new CD Dark Velvet.

She herself says about her CD: ‘For me, Dark Velvet is synonymous with the sound before the music. From an early age, due to the fact that my father was a cellist/composer, I witnessed the creative process and experienced a very close collaboration in writing pieces for my instrument, the violin. Later in life, the connection with composers came very easily and naturally through my growing curiosity and passion for the language of new music. As a result of the mutual understanding and inspiration, several pieces were written or arranged for me. Now is the time to present some to the world, give them a ‘life.’
