Jacob ter Veldhuis: Mountain Top
“I’ve been to the mountaintop …” – Every vision that later changes the world must first be put into words. The visionary power of the word also shines through in the three contemporary works: Martin Luther King’s speech on April 3, 1968, the day before his murder, inspired the Dutchman Jacob TV (alias Jacob ter Veldhuis) to write “Mountain top”.
The civil rights activist’s words run on an edited original soundtrack, fragments of words are picked up by the choir and – following the rhythm of the language – formed into an overwhelming storm of sound.
