Isidora Žebeljan: The Horses of Saint Mark & Hum away, hum away, strings!

The NAC Orchestra performs for the first time two works by Serbian composer Isidora Žebeljan: The Horses of Saint Mark, a surrealist adventure that evokes the sacred chants of Byzantine monks, and Zujte Strune (Hum away, hum away, strings!), which reimagines themes from Mozart’s fairy-tale opera The Magic Flute.

Piet-Jan van Rossum: woord

The program “Stars of Heaven” focuses on two Dutch premieres: “Riflesso sull’aria” by Richard Rijnvos and “woord” by Piet-Jan van Rossum. Both composers share the same artistic starting point: their new work is inspired by “Trois Poèmes de Mallarmé,” a song cycle for soprano and ensemble by the much-admired Maurice Ravel.
